It measures 4 1/4" tall with a diameter of 7" across at top and 3 1/2" at base
and still totally usable) that fits neatly inside
which is what I love about them--the most pared down (and I think very elegant) solutions to the task
and the only hardware anywhere are tiny brass nails securing the chip carved layers
with a few ink smears here and there

Your French may be better than mine, but I take the text as describing the daily flow of life for the spider capturing its prey in the morning, eating mid day, then spinning its web at night with hope toward the next day's catch.
