They will winter along the coats of the Atlantic or Pacific Oceans or the Gulf of Mexico. The loon is rarely seen on land, and generally leaves the water only to nest. However, here the unusual has taken place. For several years the artist and this loon pair shared the beauty and solitude of a northern lake. One fall day, while
