I couldn't resist grabbing this bunch of wooden pottery tools at a recent artist's estate sale

Still really looks great

but these charmed me for being cheerful but not at all fussy

the drawing unpacks as a wonderful portrait of impotence and thwarted desire

especially because of the way the viewer is implicated
