Only recently did I learn--through my mother's sleuthing of pottery marks--that it was made by Michael Cohen

but a pretty terrific small tin litho soldier he is

replaced at some point

which I think make it feel rather heroic

Old Iron Spiral Tip with Red Paint chain links Then on the backAs you may know, I've been hunting interesting old finials of late, which this is not, but I find it satisfying in the same sort of way, including for the old red paint still clinging to it. Surely it was the head tip of an old tool of some sort, but now without a handle it's just a good object to set somewhere, made of iron so nice and heavy, and with this very satisfying spiral. 5 7 8" t x 1 1 4" in diameter and indestructible.
